I was lucky enough to have my forward thinking parents brought me to see an acupuncturist to solve my health crisis.
I had two interesting cases last month that showcased the benefit of combining Acupuncture and Western Medicine with regards to treating headaches and its associated symptoms.
Case One :
Male, mid 70s came to us for treatment of headaches that has gotten worse in the last 7 mths. With a history of brain tumor and epilepsy, we have to rule out aneurysm, brain cancer and stroke with his Western Doc. Once confirmed he had none of those, I get to work on him with my acupuncture needles. His pain was constant with an intensity of 8/10. After 5 treatments, its now 2/10. Suffice it so say he is one happy camper.
Female, late 40s heard her head 'popped' while doing squats at boot camp. Intense pain ensued and she started experiencing symptoms of neck pain and headaches. She went to the ER to rule out aneurysm or potential fracture. After 6 weeks of consistent pain, she decided to get a treatment. After one session, her headache is 100% resolved. She is now back to her regular routine.
Be it an acute injury or long standing chronic pain, acupuncture has shown to provide relief and improving patients' quality of life.
