The time of your miscarriage gives a glimpse as to the state of your health. The strategy for the acupuncture treatment is to help strengthen your body before you get pregnant again. Typically, we would like you to have a normal period for 2-3 cycles to rebuild your strength. Once you are pregnant, pre natal acupuncture care is required once a week till you pass 14th week pregnancy.
Have you been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian cysts (PCOS), insulin resistance, low thyroid function, low progesterone or luteal phase defect? If so, it is important for you to bring your blood work so that we can review your lab results. Typically if a woman is diagnosed with any of the above condition(s), they are already working with an IVF doctor or seeing a reproductive endocrinologist. We need to work with your doctors to increase your chances of getting pregnant. Ideally patients should be open to take herbal medicines to help balance their hormones.
If you are undergoing IVF and want to increase your chances of getting pregnant, the best time to come is 2 weeks before your transfer leading to the day of transfer and 2 weeks after post transfer. The pre transfer sessions can help your eggs to grow to the size that is optimal for transfers and also to help the eggs ‘latch on’ once transfers were done.
If you have irregular periods or are not ovulating, acupuncture can certainly help you with menstrual cycling. We would like to work with you consistently for 3 months to help regulate your cycle.
